What Yorefold is

A fan-kept book of Soulframe lore: folios written to be read aloud by a fire, told whole, and cited to their sources. It is kept in the manner of the scholar-order of the setting itself, the Pensives — patient, precise, and honest about the difference between what is attested and what is guessed. Its sister archive, VESTIGE, keeps the other story Digital Extremes is telling; the two share a doctrine and a keeper.

The wet-clay doctrine

Soulframe is in pre-alpha. Digital Extremes calls the phase Preludes, and the name is honest: the piece before the main work. Canon this young is wet clay — quests are reworked, systems renamed, story rebuilt between builds. So this book holds one rule above the rest: what is playable, what is announced, and what is rumor are never allowed to blur. Prose covering released fables is current through Preludes 15: Gods & Ghosts (June 2026) and cites the Fable that tells it. Announced things — the Warsongs Fable, the Vadagar Pact, Tempest Bayor, the Empress in her own voice — are marked announced, cited to their devstream or news post, and will be rewritten the day they become playable. Community theory is named as theory or left outside the covers. Where the sources are silent, the book keeps a gap rather than a guess, and says so on the page.

Sources and quotations

Soulframe has no public data export yet (its elder sibling's PublicExport has no counterpart here — this was checked, not assumed). The book therefore cites what exists: the fables as playable in the current Preludes build, official copy from soulframe.com and the Soulframe forums, Digital Extremes' devstreams and TennoCon showcases by number and date, and cross-checks against the community's own wiki. Every verbatim quotation is short, attributed in place, and drawn from official copy only.

Method, honestly

This book is kept by one person, with modern tools, and it will not pretend otherwise. Research, drafting, and site engineering are done with AI assistance; every factual claim is then checked against the sources cited on the page where it appears, and the editorial judgments — what is attested, what is interpretation, what stays a gap — are human ones. Nothing is published on the machine's word alone. This community holds strong feelings about machine-made things, and the keeper does not argue with the feeling: the Ode's spellsong is nobody's friend. What the book offers instead is the only defense an archive can honestly mount — that every claim is cited, every change is entered in the Accessions, and every error a reader finds will be corrected. Judge the book by whether it is true.

Imagery

Every mark in this book is original: the woodcut sigils are hand-constructed vector line art in the fold's own language, built for this site. No generative-AI imagery is used here — no diffusion art, no synthetic photography — and none ever will be. If official Digital Extremes media is ever tipped in as a plate, it will be credited where it appears.

Spoilers

The book tells what it holds, whole. Every folio and every fable recap is written spoiler-complete for released content; nothing waits behind a gate. What the book owes you instead is provenance: each section names the Fable its lore belongs to, and the chips lead intoThe Fables So Far. If you would rather meet the story in the game first, play the Fables before you read deep. The fire will be lit when you return.

Supporting the fold

Yorefold is free, carries no advertising, and its folios will never sit behind a paywall. Digital Extremes' Content Policy forbids charging for access to fan works, and this book would refuse to anyway. If it becomes part of how you play, you cankeep the hearth lit on Ko-fi: donations fund hosting and the hours the folios take to keep.
